Are Sports Packages worth it?

I often am asked this question when it comes to major sporting events. Will I be paying more for the actual tickets? Can you get good seats? Am I really better off booking a Sports Package?……Well the answer for a few reasons, is yes. Our sports suppliers deal directly with the event organisers and are given a number of preferred seating to a particular event/tournament. Not only that, in most cases you’ll have an opportunity to purchase corporate box style seating. I recently attended the Hopman Cup in Perth (Tennis) and was lucky enough to be seated in a top class corporate box. I was that close to the action I could smell the sweat of the players (woman’s session of course) and really feel the ball hitting the racket. I was really experiencing the game. I couldn’t imagine the same experience sitting in the ‘nose bleed’ seats 100metres from the action. My advice, Spend the Extra – Experience the Event, whatever it may be!

Planning the Family Holiday over Turkey!

While I certainly enjoy getting together with family over the Christmas break, not only to devour a Turkey or two, multiple kilos of pasta (I’m Italian!), Beef, Chicken(s) and 10-14 cakes (again, I’m Italian!), it is a rare opportunity to have us all together to talk about what we should do this coming year, in terms of holidays. This Christmas we talked about the entire family going to Mt Buller for a 3-4 day family skiing holiday, as the kids would absolute love it. Mum (grandma) can babysit while we strain our knee ligaments and drink vodka. Another suggestion was to go to Europe, but with a few kids, cost would be a big factor and have to be put on the back-burner. I suggested a family cruise where we can all jump aboard, kick back and relax. Most were reluctant, saying cruising was for ‘oldies’. I backed my suggestion with some convincing reasons (and referred to my recent cruise along the Mexican Riveria) and pretty soon the rest of the family were half interested. Where else can the Grandparents retreat to their cabin for a 3pm snooze, or my kids can duck off for an hour or two of WII Star Wars while the wife, sisters and mum inspect the shops and cafes onboard.

Then we all meet for pre-dinner drinks and then get to talk about the day over dinner. To me, a week of this routine is relaxing….however, I bet we go skiing first!

Are we there yet?….Travel with Kids

It can be such a worrying and stressful time to plan a family holiday, particularly an International Holiday. Questions like, How long is the flight? Can we fit into one room? If we get two rooms, will they be interconnecting? What will my kids eat? …. there are a million questions like this, right? Sometimes you give in and figure it might just be easier to go camping. The trouble is that the kids really do miss out on experiencing another culture.

The booking process is becoming a little easier these days with many resorts being listed on independant review sites as real passengers tell of their experiences. You can literary spend hours just researching a resort or destination and the whole booking experience is not so much fun. You feel silly asking all of the above questions?

As a father of a young family myself, I completely understand your feelings. I’m in the travel game and I book all sorts of people all over the world every day, and have done so for years, but I still ask these same questions. It’s natural….

Don’t consider it too difficult……My advice, ask plenty of questions and find a travel agent who knows their stuff! It’s much more comforting having your holiday booked the correct way and that all those ‘little things’ have been considered and taken care of.
